Hi Phil,
Did you try just using eCS's LVM.EXE** ([CLI - not the graphical
installation tool) from the installation CD [CLI/maintenance start] to
do the following:
01. delete all partitions (zeroing MBR partition table in the process)
02. recreate primary partition for XP
03. install IBM-BM immediately following XP partition [to prevent XP
grabbing whole of disk!]
04. reinstall XP from Recovery CDs [disabling BM in the process]
05. test-boot-XP to ensure it worked
06. boot eCS installation CD, re-enable IBM-BM
07. add XP to IBM-BM _without_ allocating it a volume-letter
08. reboot to XP via IBM-BM menu to ensure that works
09. reboot from eCS installation CD to CLI and using LVM.EXE ...
10. create logical _partition_ (not volume) for eCS installation and
mark as installable
11. create any other logical _partitions_ for e.g. XP data/progs (to
become FAT32/NTFS, depending whether you want to be able to write to
them or not)
12. create any other logical partitions as placeholders required for eCS
volumes [(maintenance or alternate eCS-boot?), apps, data]
8. Reboot again, this time to install eCS - hopefully successfully!
** make sure to exit with "saving changes" from F3 in all above procedures
Regards,
Mike
