subject: W3 Internet programs under WinOS2

Hello James!
JD>> What do I have to do to have Internet access under Win/OS2 (OS/2
JD>> programs no problems; Warp 4; no fixpacks)?
 JD>> In my CONFIG.SYS I have TCP/IP support for DOS/Windows:
 JD>> DEVICE=d:\tcpip\bin\vdostcp.vdd
 JD>> DEVICE=d:\tcpip\bin\vdostcp.sys
 JD>> RUN=d:\tcpip\bin\vdosctl.exe
JM> Ok here. These are the virtual stack drivers.
JD>> There are two WINSOCK.DLLs in directories that ae both in my PATH:
JD>> (BTW, which one wil be used?): \OS2\MDOS\WINOS2\WINSOCK.DLL 105216
 JD>> bytes 21 Oct 94 \TCPIP\DOS\BIN\WINSOCK.DLL 83817 bytes 1 Aug 96
JM> You need to be have the second one in both places and put one of the
JM> two in your PATH= statement in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
Corrected that, but in itself that wasn't enough. IE now advacnces a little
further, telling me of every address it can't find it.
JD>> I have installed Internet Explorer 3.03 for W3, custom installation
JD>> *without* TCP/IP stack and dialer.
JM> Whew. Tell us how you did that feat...
Choose 'Custom installation' and check 'TCP/IP stack and dialer' off ;-)
JD>> If I now connect with InJoy, IE still can't visit any site.
JM> You still do not have a winsock enabled TCPIP stack because of the
 JM> above problem.
You mean I still have to install a TCP/IP stack under WinOS/2 ? I thought
OS/2 was the boss, so I left that out?
Bye,
Jan
