I haven't heard of The Woman in White before.  I'll see if I can find
it.  Do you like short mysteries?  Isaac Asimov wrote a series of those,
and some of them are quite interesting.  Some of them are just a bit too
much of Isaac's playing around, but some of them are real think pieces.
