I guess you don't understand much about modems... Your modem most likely
have the so called 4 to 1 V.42bis compression... which does WONDERS on
TEXT and other repeating data... THAT'S what you are getting... people here
have got over 10,000 CPS with a V.34 modem... so your speed is nothing more
than the compression software working at its best.
And also, fiber optics don't do much... you still need to have a local hub
to turn the high capacity fiber optics into hundreds of low capacity
copper lines... you CAN'T hook up your phones to Fiber optics... cuz
laser don't transmit well in solid copper.
RC> The answer, of course, is data compression. The rest of the answer

EC> Ok, the program cannot calculate? I DID download c&C Command &

Yeah right, you just use ZMODEM RESUME and the program think it is doing
a million CPS... LOTS of program are like this... My guess is that you
resumed after downloaded about 26MB of the file...
People like you should be ashamed of yourself, it is because people pirate
like you, cause the price increase in the software we buy... go to hell.
Don't you think about the "Flash & Bang" entry of any discuession group or
echo... because either the Moderators/Co-Moderators (Dave Raymond and Rick
Collins) or the readers will kick you out... FAST...
... Please, GOD, please save me from some of your followers!!
