PE> Could you do me a favour and call me with your Dataplex modem IS> No indication of retraining or any delays here (apart from a longish wait IS> till hangup after receiving your filelist?) What do your stats have to IS> say? PE> I will insert them below. Not that they give me any info. The PE> info I was after was whether YOU would see a retrain request PE> reported on your modem. Since you didn't see one, we have a PE> new query. Why are you not seeing a "retrain", but Rod is? Fairly obviously - I don't run a Supra :) Yes, I was watching that call very closely. Your log entry shows clearly enough that ring to connect was about 11 seconds; average, and nowhere near time for a full retrain after trainup. Nine seconds later it was into session - again, about average for YooHoo. PE> assume the behaviour of Binkley 2.50. Just who is meant to PE> hang up after a zmodem transfer? I'll have to investigate PE> that though, as I think both ends should hang up. Both did, though a WaZOO session isn't just a zmodem transfer. The extra 10 seconds between the last file and hangup would be yours checking for nothing else to send, I expect; it's not that uncommon after file requests. My end drops DTR synchronously with logging of 'End of WaZOO/EMSI Session'. Yours obviously did too; .1 sec later your log said - near enough. IS> No, I've the DPX596 only, currently. What doesn't happen here is any IS> connect difficulties, obvious retraining or rateshifting, nor any other IS> problems when calling any Couriers, to date. No Supras call here, to my IS> knowledge. PE> Would it be possible that you have retrains disabled, and your PE> modem only reports when it accepts a retrain request, or PE> initiates one? No, neither. It's always enabled, and my DA light flashes during retrains, with the FB light indicating any fallback taken. IS> Whether it only happens when some/all Supras of that IS> vintage call Couriers, is perhaps what's worth finding out. IS> I rather doubt IS> USR would be interested in investing development time if it IS> doesn't effect IS> more than a few oldish modems, though it may cover some generic range .. PE> Yeah, but all that does is lump USR with every other manufacturer. PE> You're on your own when you walk out the door. That hardly appears to be the case. Until we get reports of other V.32bis modems having this problem with Couriers, there's nothing to go on. If you expect every modem to work with every other modem, especially older models no longer in development, your expectations are much higher than those of any modem manufacturer I've come across. How are Supra handling enquiries? Thanks for the log. PE> # 09 Feb 02:29:31.53 USRobotics Courier V.32bis Dual PE> Standard V.34+ Fax Link Diagnostics...
