subject: future ITU-T Study Group 14 work

Dick Brandt, vice chairman of ITU-T Study Group 14 (ITU-T V-series
Recommendations) just told me the following about the future work of SG 14:

V.34 (1996), V.61 (14400 bps modem with simultaneous analogue voice), V.34Q
(V.34 modulation with simultaneous voice and data) and V.18 will go for
personal ballot in March and hopefully formal ballot to be completed by the
time of the next WSTC meeting in September, *provided* Intellectual
Property Rights issues with V.8bis can be worked out.

In future, SG 14 may cover areas such as cable modems and ADSL.
