As instructed, I obliterated the entire WV tree.  I then unzipped 
wvgui1.01.zip.  Using Firefox 1.5.0.6 with no version of Flash enabled I 
found a site which offered short video clips, one QT (.mov) and one 
.wmv.  IIRC, both conjured up WV, which did nothing.   I believe neither 
of the files downloaded, based on CPU activity, but I'm not sure.  I 
waited four minutes, which I know from downloading these two video files 
using other Firefox commands is far, far more than the time it takes to 
download them.  Using Firefox 2.0RC2 with Flash 7 enabled the .wmv 
option triggered a download screen.  After the download completed I was 
able to start WV manaually, "load media," and watch the clip.  The .mov 
opion popped up WV, but WV did nothing, same as before.  eCS 1.2.
