ZR> Great!! I'd really like to share info with you about the Cherokee
ZR> nation as I
ZR> am also part Cherokee.. about 1/8 I think. I think that is so great
ZR> that you
ZR> can still get the benefit of the drumming... do you go to PowWow's
ZR> there? Having driven through your area lately I am aware how many
ZR> native resources you have.
JE> I would be glad to have you share what you know. I have never been
JE> to a PowWow yet. we are generally too busy to keep up with what is
JE> going on in the NA reservation here. However, there is a NA shop in
JE> Tacoma that I plan to go down and see somewhere around the christmas
JE> holidays.
Oh, hey, this is an idea... try calling the Cherokee Nation gift shop
in Talequah and ask for a free catalog... the number is 1-918-456-2199.
Their catalog is spectacular... mostly pictures of expensive artwork
they are trying to sell. I fell in love with at least half of it... of
course I can't afford most of it.... But they also have a book catalog
that comes with this so you will have another source for genuine Cherokee
information... from children's books to Cherokee herbology... with
cassette tapes of flutes and songs, this is something every Cherokee should
have, in my opinion. :)
JE> That is great!! Due to circumstances, I won't be homeschooling
JE> full-time this year, however, she will still go to Kindergarden all
JE> year and I will supplement what I can at home after I have moved and
JE> settled down into the apt that I want.
Whatever works for you two is best. :) I send my seven year old daughter
to school because we desperately need the time away from her. She does
well there, though, and does the homeschool things at home when she feels
like it, which is often. Just a few days ago I brought a pile of photo-
copies home from the homestudy office and /she/ was the one who was all
over me to let /her/ do the work. Fortunately I had anticipated her
interest and gotten a second set of papers for her. I found a series
of outline maps in a third grade social studies book and photocopied them...
she was the first to put together her own atlas which she colors in from
time to time now. Getting Aaron to do such projects is much more difficult.
He can only take a little at a time... I wonder if he is ADD too... only
without the hyperactivity component.
