subject: laptop / ACPI?

A little while ago I asked about a problem installing 1.2R onto new ASUS
A6000KM laptop. We played with it with Windows, then reformatted the
drive (leaving the "hidden" partition with W XP still there).

I tested eCS and it seemed to work - at least with a basic install. In
then repartitioned the disk, restored W XP, and now I can't install eCS
- it hangs soon after customising the install menu - which is nowhere
near the results I first got.

At the time the suggestion was to disable ACPI - BUT there is no
function for this in the BIOS?

Any suggestions on anything else to try?

Thanks
