subject: USR Courier V34 problems

RB>> I would like to try a connection to you with my Domestic

RB>> Courier and the Latest you Beaut 1 Nov Code just to see

RB>> If It is the Austel Hack at fault. Any chance of that.??

RS> Did that fine this am as you know. Called six times in a row. I DID see

RS> the retrain demanded from your end BUT never saw the dud ones where that

RS> retrain resulted in continuous receive and transmit errors after the

 RS> retrain.

This could have been my fault as I was trying to get at to do a +++ at one

stage so I could get stats for your connect. Then after that I did an

ATO1 (return online & retrain and a ATO2 return omline & speedshift)

I did not to succeed in dropping from Terminate HOST mode do do this and

I probably sent the retrain request to you and stuffed up your tests as well.

RS> And it didnt demand the retrain every time, tho that is occasionally seen

RS> with the austel SDLs too now. Not clear if that was just the step back in

RS> the code version or just many more calls made it visible with the

 RS> austels.

RS> So it appears that the US domestic SDL is rather better, tho there is

 RS> still

RS> no point in doing a full retrain on a V32bis call just after the connect.

Still think it was my fault, I don't expect that you will want to try

connecting to me again (it does cost money to Prove a point though) but

If you want to - I promise I will leave it alone -

I was really trying to help you, but made it worse.

RS> I have since this message first went out, also called Bills

RS> V34 Sportster repeatedly too, and not a hint of the retrain

RS> demand at all. Thats with the non Austel rom in his modem.

RS> So it seems pretty clear its just a current quirk of the Courier code.

Not black and white yet

Sorry
