The reality is that Hutton did a pretty good job of investigating.
Unfortunately, there seemed to be only a slight connection between what he
heard
from witnesses during the investigation and his subsequent report.

I recall that the media reporters who sat through the whole of the hearings were
astounded when they read the report. They saw little or no connection
between what they had heard and what the report concluded.
