Hi Lori, There is some questions you need to ask; What kind of race?
Standing start drag race? Top end bash down the highway?  And most
importantly, what kind of rear end ratio?  Just becuase a friend of mine has
a hopped up 318 in his Lebaron doesn't mean much becuase he still has a
stock 2.41 rear axle in it.  Now, lets race a 3.73 rear axled identical car
with it, whos going to win the standing start race? Same applies to Dodge vs
Chevy vs Ford... If my pickemup truck has a 4:11 in it, and your dodge has a
3.08 you can bet donuts to dollars that my truck will leave your dodge
behind for at least a short while.
Now, if we get on the highway, thats a different matter, I'm going to reach
my engines redline earlier than the 3.08 equipped dodge and be left behind
in a hurry.
Winning the race is not whos name is on the front, its the overall
combination of things to get the desired result.  Do you want to cruise the
highway at or above 100mph? Or do you want to leave other cars behind from a
standing start.
