My Micron Millenia Pro2 Plus was built in November 1996, and the only thing I had to do was install Matrox's video drivers for the 4MB MGA Millenium card I put in myself; the Adaptec 2940U SCSI controller, Creative Labs SB32+Wavetable sound card, and Intel EEPro/100B network were supported by OS/2 Warp 4 out of the box. Same with the two IBM IntelliStation model 6899's I've installed OS/2 Warp 4 on at one point or another and which date from early 1997, and same for the Compaq Deskpro model 6200's I have which date from late 1997 and early 1998. All of these boxes were purchased explicitly with OS/2 support in mind. All had 2MB or 4MB Matrox MGA Millenium video cards and either Intel EEPro/100B or 3Com network cards as part of the stock configuration, and the network cards were supported by Warp 4 out of the box, as were the stock Adaptec 2940U and UW SCSI controllers. I added the AWE32 and AWE64 sound cards myself. > I was in the 5 years 1995 - 2000 not one time able to get a WARP4 installed > without the hassle to prepare the installation diskkettes or even first > creating them from the CD. I'm sorry you had issues. I didn't, mainly because I only purchased hardware which I knew would be supported by OS/2 based on previous experience. There was a good reason back in the late 1990's to stick with major business- oriented brands and avoid things like integrated NICs and soundcards, at least if you wanted your box to work with OS/2. -- -Rich Steiner >>>---> http://www.visi.com/~rsteiner >>>---> Mableton, GA USA Written online using VISI's fancy web-based Horde interface!
