RD->I said the above as I have tried MANY Taiwanese modems, and have found
RD->them all to operate very poorly, at least here in Australia. I think
RD->you will find that just about 90% of the modems that come from Taiwan
RD->are exactly the same except the box/labels etc anyhow.

To be noted, ZyXel modems are manufactured in Taiwan, aren't Austel
approved, yet are very good.

RD->As for a real reason, Diamond modems do not function as well as they
RD->should in Australia, as they have Taiwanese firmware, and I have never
RD->heard anyone getting 'good' CPS rates on one!

Well, I'm sure people are getting fine use out of them for the money they pay.
