Thanks for trying to help; unfortunately that didn't solve the problem.
I'm familiar with the GEOS.INI file, having tweaked it according to info I
downloaded in the past. One of the things I initially checked was this file,
expecting to find garbage therein. Everything looked OK, both with the .INI
file in existence when the problem occurred and with the file installed by
the reinstallation. Funny thing -- after I received your message I took
another look at the .INI file and found NO lines describing the drives.
Those lines used to exist! I know because I remember changing one setting.
That computer has only one floppy drive, yet Ensemble 2.0 used to load
showing both A and B floppies. I could click on either A or B, and Ensemble
would access the A drive. I changed the .INI file setting to "drive B=0",
and the phantom drive disappeared.
I added the drive lines, but unfortunately Ensemble still wants me to insert
the disk into drive C (my hard drive.) I tried inserting the drive lines in
a couple of places under [system], but still have the same problem. DOS,
Stacker and Norton utilities say all is well; only Ensemble can't find the
hard disk volume. I've had NO problems with Stacker V4.1 on my other
computer; Windows and all programs work fine.
You also suggested changing the Wait Post Support in Ensemble Preferences.
Unfortunately, Ensemble quits loading after about 5 seconds, so I never get
to the DeskTop, let alone into Preferences. I never changed that in the
past, so Ensemble (at least at one time) was happy with whatever the default
setting is/was.
