Anything's possible and memory problems sure would tend to cause crashes
at the most inopportune time.
It could also be just a bad connection. Before you go replacing chips,
I'd open up the case and reseat everything that's pluggable/socketable
on the motherboard and test again. You'd be surprised how many problems
are fixed just by reseating everything.
