Table 17.4: "Maximum volume size - 32 GB (This is due to the Windows 2000 Format tool. The maximum volume size that Windows 98 can create is 127.53 GB)." > Is all this to be expected? 500/3 = 166GB, by my math, so yes, I'd say you're banging your head on a ceiling. I'm assuming you're using the FAT32 driver under eCS or OS/2? It might not be checking for out-of-bounds sizes like 166GB, and trying anyway - the cluster math might be wrapping, or just going off into space - thus, the lockups and hangs. Try a partition size of 100GB, or use a native file system instead of an add-on. FAT is fully-tested, but limited to 2GB, I think. A wee bit tight, but you can be assured it will work.
