I haven't used it for making the laps, but I have used it as a protective
layer when using things like epoxy and pitch. They both come right off. The
foil is somewhat thicker than usual and has a slick side and a non-slick
side.

Ah, but Guy, it is a new material that hasn't been mentioned in the list
yet and it is more complex to use so it must be better!  Actually,
if we didn't continually keep looking for new processes, the actual process
of making a mirror will just become a boring rote thing to do. I'll note
that I recently got the Sci. Amer. CD and have noted that plaster tools
were being discussed more than 50 years ago and the basic process was a bit
more primitive than it is now.  I find this true with other things as well.
