 'tim toadie'

which is the generally accepted pronunciation for TMTOWTDI

which stands for 'There's More Than One Way To Do It'

if you find/think of a way to do something a different way...and it works
then you are a getting a handle on perl's 'magic'

does anybody have a handy link for the msg/pkt code i worked on? that
has some 'good' examples of using pack/unpack in fido code...

JB> hmm, lists can contain not only 0 but also undef.

i only use defined/undef when having a variable set to 0 won't work in the
code (ie. the variable needs NOT to exist)

i have some nodelist reading code that uses that philosophy...

JB> please let me know if I've made any mistakes.

the only mistakes you will make in perl, are the ones that make will fail
to compile (or a logic error that results in bug in your program). as far
as i'm concerned you can't make a perl coding error other than that...
