TR> I was actually claiming that a modem (Rod's V32bis Supra) which has
TR> problems talking to _both_ the Courier and the Spirit at V32bis was iffy.
So the failures to the Spirit do not make the modem count as
iffy? Well if we discount that from the iffy stats, then
the Supra only has the one iffy connect, which is with the
Courier. And that fault, could be either of Supra's or
USR's fault, we can't tell. We can tell that disabling V32terbo
makes that particular problem go away, which gives a great weight
of evidence as to where the problem is.
TR> You then stated that I must call the other brands you mentioned iffy (see
TR> above).
TR> So, I asked about their relationship with your Courier. As you concede that
TR> they do not have the particular problem, I do not see any reason at all why
TR> I must call them iffy.
You must call them iffy, because you are using the problems with
the Spirit as "iffy-evidence". Oh yeah, the Maestro's had the
problem with the connect to Spirit Thunder as well (complete
failure, rather than double-send).
TR> On the quite separate "double-send" issue, the newer
Maestro V32bis modems
TR> did not exhibit it at all when talking to a Spirit II. As the Spirit II has
TR> not changed, therefore the newer version Maestro V32bis modems must have
TR> been "fixed".
Are you sure about this? That's the first I heard of that.
Are you sure you're not talking about the V34 modems? THEY
don't have the problem. What changed in the Maestro modems?
Was it just a ROM upgrade? BFN. Paul.
