Thats got NOTHING to do with how the ATZ command should work Dave.
Yes, it does indeed make considerable sense to have a &B2 mode which allows
that mode. Pity its got NOTHING to do with how the ATZ command works tho.

DH> Paper only - I've never done it, and I've never seen it - but the claim
DH> is that more than several BBS systems in the USA used it, and used it hard.

Still got nothing to do with how the ATZ command works.

DH> IMHO, this bit is an artifact of that capability.

Nope, got absolutely nothing to do with it. There is now reason at all
why they cant use the port speed determined from the AT letters on an
ATZ command for the *RING* test on a incoming call. The port speed used
for an ARQ *CONNECT* string in &B2 is a separate issue entirely.

DH> Still a bug as far as I'm concerned however.

Yeah, they should atleast document the fact that USR modems do
do an ATZ command differently all the other manufactures, but it
makes a hell of a lot more sense to do the ATZ the same way every
one else does it so it doesnt bit you on the bum unexpecteDly.

DH> Not gonna loose any sleep over it - my port is locked at 57600
DH> and stays there, with &W done to be sure from Bink terminal mode.

Oh sure, no one ever claimed it was a major problem. Just that USR
does the ATZ command ALONE differently to the way everyone else does
it FOR NO GOOD REASON and doesnt even bother to document that.
