Snapshot
(with thanks to Elisheva Begin
who shared his picture with me)
by Sondra Ball
I sit in my canoe.
The sun sinks
behind pine trees,
painting clouds
pink and lavender.
I see a hole
in the rocky bank,
worn smooth by centuries
of lake water
lapping against limestone.
Click!
My camera catches the colors,
secures the hole on the shore line;
but fails to halt
the sun still setting,
sending wavering shadows
of pine trees and pink clouds
across the water.
