And, what's the init on the USR, and is it a Sportster or a Courier? You
could make sure that V.8 Call Indicate is disabled on the Sportster (use ATS$
in terminal mode to list the register settings. V.8 CI moved around
a bit, depending on the model. It's S32 bit 0 in mine). Be sure it's only
the V.8 Call Indicate you disable, you need V.8 itself. You could also try
using MNP vice V.42 - Use S15=128 (but check the register display first to
ensure this is the correct register to disable V.42).
