Yes, I thought the same thing.   Basil was Sherlock, until Jeremy Brett came
along.  It was very disconcerting at first, but I got out my Complete
Sherlock and started reading and realized that Brett's characterization was
even better than Basil's--especially in the treatment of Dr. Watson.
I wonder who will be the next Sherlock, and how long it will take to get
used to the new one.
