Ray,
Yes, that is a 40 GB NTFS partition (Vista) in front of W4, but I have
another computer where I have a 12 GB Win2K FAT32 partition and behind it a
W4 on FAT16 and it works perfectly. The working one is > 1024 cylinders
(8 GB).
Recall that I am booting off the UPDCD CD when the "unable to
operate" occurs and even putting a C: (partition) in front of W4 did
not change anything. Again, I think the question of what are the assigned
drive letters comes up. DFSDOS reports D: for W4. BTW, I can boot off the
same UPDCD CD on the working machine (12 GB W2K/W4 behind it) and
everything is OK i.e. it gets to the W4 install screen.
