BS> Are generator lights that much better (brighter?) than battery operated
JT> ones?
JT> No, but they work when your battery is dead, like from excessive
JT> cold. Make sure your tires can accommodate a generator; many
JT> knobby models don't work so well.
The "Dynamos" that we used in England had no voltage regulator
built in and when you started moving along pretty good, the excessive
voltage would blow the bulbs. I always carried a couple of spares,
but on long night rides, I used to blow them all out. Then I would
disconnect the Dynamo from the tire and ride without lights.
Zipping through some of those cobble stone paved streets in the
English villages, always promted the local Constable to blow his
whistle at me and jump on his "Push Bike" and try to catch me.
None of them ever did.
