The Alcor corrector has a few different flavours, some of which are aimed
at the dual axis Celestron scopes. What you want is the basic Alcor with a
single output. Michael mentions that this can drive the two motors in the
Celestron, both of these motors are on the same axis so it is a single axis
corrector.
As Bob May mentioned a simple low buck approach is one of the 100-250 watt
inverters that are designed for running TV's off of a car battery. It would
get you up and running using DC right away and as you get more comfortable
with the unit you can open it up at a later date and see what it would take
to make the frequency variable.
