Harvey, I'm not familliar with the Kennwood ts870 although I believe
its predecessor rig the ts850 is a much more blind friendly rig to
operate.  The vs3 speech synthesizer works on the 870 and I don't know
how much information it reads on the display.  The 850 not only gives
you the frequency but when you push the speech button at the same time
you turn on the rig, the majority of the function buttons give you
