Subject: RICHARD ON EDTA 47: Home Power Status: Public
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
At the RE fair in Arcata Richard Perez held a workshop on
batteries. One of the topics was battery sulfation levels and
EDTA. Basically he said that EDTA does work on lead-acid true
deep cycle batteries. He did comment however that often when
used in car batteries with their much thinner plates that as
the EDTA breaks down the sulfation that it also destroys the
weak battery plates. Considering that a car battery is much
cheaper than an L-16 that isn't so bad. I imagine that in some
car batterys which died an early "premature" death due to
sulfation it might not kill the battery (as witnessed by the
experience of one of the folks online here). Good to know....DCK
