MD>PM> If they are "gaining a pair" (taking your copper pair
MD>PM> and adding multiplexers at each end to get multiple
MD>PM> voice channels across it)...this will hurt modem
MD>operation. This is what they are doing. All the techs I have
MD>talked to said it should work fine.
It depends on how it is done. Technically you can have T1
service (24 64k channels ... 24 high grade voice good for
33.6k+ or 56k IDSN (8k used for telco network overhead)) over
a copper pair. If its not handled correctly, or the multiplex
configuration used is poor or not sampling fast enough you
can have LOTS of problems even with normal voice calls.
MD>PM> You want to have an isolated copper pair for the modem
MD>PM> back to their switch site.
MD> Not possible where I am living. Next time I move into an
MD>apartment I will be sure to ask if I am going to have my own copper.
Not a bad idea. :-)
