While listening to Sunny Leung Pete heard:USRMaestro connects

G'day Sunny

PC> The other night i connected to Computropolis BBS which AFAIK
PC> uses Maestro modems and i got a split speed connect which makes
PC> me ask "do all v.34 modems support split speeds" if so why don't
PC> i see it more than i do.

SL> See my message to Hamish Moffat. Apparently, although split
SL> speeds constitute part of v.34, not all manufacutuers implement
SL> it - it depends upon the firmware the modem uses.

Yep have read it.

SL> It's unlikely that generic Rockwell glue'n'go v.34 modems will
SL> have split speeds working properly, if at all. Perhaps this
SL> means that Maestros are more than just generic Rockwell?

Don't know much about Maestros apart from the earlier V.FC's had a few
problems though what maker didn't.

SL> What I'm wondering is whether Netcomm v.34 modems do split
SL> speeds. I can't remember the last time I got an asymmetic speed
 SL> connection with one.

Iv'e never seen a asymmetric connect to a M34F so maybe Netcomm don't
support it.
