In the eyeloupe, you will probably see the purple and blue speckles amongst the other speckles and they should be nicely spread about. I tend to use a distant light source and reflect the angle of the light until it turns an orange color and then traverse it across the surface to see the amount of reflection of the surface. Changes in color will indicate the fineness of the grind with oranger being coarser.
