Andy,
Part of being a smart business person is to have a good handle on what
symbols to use and not to use. Sambo's blew it.
By the way, in an earlier message someone noted that executives were smart
enough not to be swayed by stereotypes and the like. How, then, does
one explain the fact that when I was looking for a job, one company told
me outright that they did not have a staff member to get me to and from
the bathroom. The company for which I eventually worked expressed a
preference that I not use the escalator. If you care, I am sure others
on this list will verify that I am a good traveler, so it is unlikely
not to have been my travel skills. It was the stereotypes.
Secondly, nobody says much about this, but what message is conveyed by
our silence. Silence says it's okay. When considering the pros and
cons of what to say, we must also consider those of silence as well. I
think we had to say something, even if it doesn't seem to change
anything, because saying nothing would have been taking a step back.

AB> damage was already done.
