Well....!!!

It has been some 6 months since I received my Modem from Melbpc. And over that 
period I have had limited success. (see various cries :-( for help in this 
echo).
I had various INIT strings given me from the netcomm 1800..... line, the last 
one being the most successful.
However the modem insisted on dropping out every 2min 30 sec, and nothing I 
could do would stop it. I gained control of it by switching it off and on 
again, but then the same "dropping out" procedure happened again.
My last resort,- send it back to Sydney via the Australia Post last Tuesday. It 
cost $11.45 for both postage and insurance.

I received the modem back (here in RINGWOOD) this morning via courier, the
Technician report was 
that they changed the CCT BOARD, whatever that is.

I have just this moment tested it on a BBS, and downloaded some stuff, and 
BINGO....!!!!!! Yippee :-) it worked perfectly with no hint of the former 
problem. It was stable and delivered data from 1500 to 2500BPS.

In conclusion I give full marks to Netcomm, for their service, it was quick -
and apart from the initial cost of sending the modem to Sydney - and at no 
further cost. 
Of course it would have been nice to have it correct the first 
time though.
