For a start... disable xon/xoff flow control in both Telix and your Modem
profile.  Then use hardware flow control (or CTS/RTS).  You will still see
a work flash... this time it will be FLOW.  And your modem will still stop
every few seconds.  That is normal.  You may be connected to the bbs at
28800 but your comm port is probably talking to your modem at 38400 or
higher.  So every few seconds the modem tells the comm port to wait a bit
while it catches up.

But hardware (CTS/RTS) flow control is far more reliable for transfering
files than is XON/XOFF.
