Earth and Moon are constantly changing, much different now from
millions of years ago. Nothing specific is constant in them.
TH
They change very slowly and in a way that life can adapt
to.
But both are consistenly following a pattern set by the non random sun. Its
heat cycle is non random, and powers
all prebiotic chemistry (Did you see the chart in the post I reproduced that
showed that virtually all prebiotic energy came solely from the sun? Some
200,000 times greater than elecrical discharges, or shock waves, or
radioactivity, or volcanoes or cosmic rays.)

> unless heat/energy forces chemicals to move , they won't.
RM
Correct. AFAIK the pre-biotic Earth's oceans had plenty of energy to
keep them sloshing around and diffusing around and undergoing lots of
random chemical reactions, etc.
TH
First of all you wouldn't have liquid oceans if the
planet wasn't in the goldilocks zone as related to the
sun. And secondly the sun would be the energy source
that would be necessary. Look at the Miller-Urey experiments.
TH
> So are we agreed that life is that which is forced to change by heat?
> Now we have two options. The heat destroys it or it doesnt.
RM
Well heat doesn't destroy molecules in the sense of making them cease
to exist, ...
TH
It can destroy them in terms of them having
any part in prebiotic chemistry.
RM
Almost nothing can survive on just the flow of heat, without anything
else such as material resources. But in the context of individual
molecules which somehow catalyze their own replication,
TH
Nothing can catalzye its own replication. If it could
it could do so without outside help - thus in the middle of the sun or at
absolute zero or in high acid, etc.
Replication is also based on the heat cycle.
RM
I'm not aware
of even one individual molecule capable of replicating without any
material food resources.
TH
Think of PCR. There is a paired strand. Through the
process of denaturing and annealing its two separate strands may join with
other denatured single strands and become numerous
hybrids - this is replication in a heat cycle with only energy.
In its simplest form, pre RNA world probably had simple single strands of RNA
that were folded or paired.
When it got hot they would denature, when it cooled they would anneal perhaps
with new hybrid versions (different denatured strands pairing with other
denatured strands)
