I thought "Death in Bloodhound Red" was wonderful. It's almost a series of
murders and adventures, all rolled into one book. It has a number of
characters in it, all of whom reappear in her sequel, "House on Bloodhound
Lane". I thought the first one was a tad bit better than the second, but both
were excellent stories.
Just finished Aaron Elkins'newest, "20 Blue Devils". I've loved his Gideon
Oliver series for years, but his last two haven't been as good as the first
few in the series. In this new one, murder takes place on a Tahitian coffee
plantation. The description of the islands is wonderful and as an coffee
lover, the info on coffee growing was an added benefit. Unfortunately,
Gideon's vast knowledge of forensics and pathology was only slightly touched
on. That was a let down since it was originally set out to be a forensics
type series and gave vast pieces of information previously on the
understanding of human bones.
