WASHINGTON, Dec 6 (Reuters) - The chairmen of the bipartisan Iraq Study
Group said on Wednesday the U.S. war strategy in Iraq was not working and
the window of opportunity for success was narrowing.

Former U.S. Secretary of State James Baker, the Republican chairman, said,
"We do not recommend a stay the course solution. In our opinion that
approach is no longer viable."

Former Democratic Rep. Lee Hamilton, joining Baker at a news conference
after the release of the group's report, added: "The current approach
is not working and the ability of the United States to influence events is
diminishing."
