Thank gawd, I have seen all to many get their back to the wall on the
topic.

Oh it's true. A 305 is much more common than any 350 but the demand is
for the 350. I alway's take a trusty tape measure with me into a yard.
Rip off the block's heads and measure a few things. If it's a 305
offer about a third of what they wanted and it's usually yours.

Like what? That we are to polite to scream insults? Or that we tend to
sound like a victorian wedded couple? ;>
>Very Well. I won't knock the 283 again.
To many people get power hungry for CID and overlook or insult motors
with less CID. A 350 is nice sure, but either a 327 or 302 will walk
over it without noticing. It's the difference between a motor built for
power and a motor built for racing.
>Maybe. =) I might be switching the truck to propane.

Brrr.... Just slightly cheaper than runnng champagne!

Wreckers you can ignore safely, most will probably only have about '75
and up. Look for backyard junkers from the 60's and 50's. Or even better
older shops that worked on stuff from the 70's and probably had ton's of
283 to 327 conversions.
