Thats true. and if many of tondays programs had that feeling. they could have
added MORE in less space. Barefoot opus really is all I really needed. I did
not require the fancy features of a front end. although I did have on on this
thing for a time. I have had other packages, such as RA/Kitten 1.11/Maximus
(did not like that one at all). For mailers Frontdoor 2.02, Fd2.12nc (what
every that really meant), Fmail, Gecho, squish... ad nausium. I run opus
barefoot now with squish. as the built in opus mailer is a little picky about
what it thinks are Dupe messages, which are not so. Squish works fine with
it. and i see no need to change software again. as you said. its my hobby.
and I also like tinkering with old computers, Cameras and hi-fi sets.

Actually. I don't know if a 386DX40 is cutting edge. but opus ISr much mroe
reliable on my old XT than RA 1.11 was. Ra was bloated and was not as good.
since almost anything RA could do. Opus beat it hands down. Besides RA
screamed when I only had 510K of TPA left after my SCSI CD drivers were
loaded in. Opus would work. maybe not perfectly at times but it worked. I
have been recommeding Opus to all new sysops in this area. Many complain
about the resalting of their configs after adding/dropping file/message
areas. but as I said to one sysop. How often do you add/drop areas that are
actually READ on your board. With squish as a tosser. passtroughs don't have
to be added to your msgbase.ctl files.. same with Allfix or Tick/raid (I use
tick) hated allfix 4.21. older allfix was nicer and a heck lot SMALLER.
Several MEGABYTES for file handling. No thanks. since I only toss incomming
ticks and while I am a local hub for a network. right now I have no
downlinks. even then Raid was more than enough for me.
BTW. what type of system are you running your bbs on right
now?
