Nope they do it because they think they have a right to (A) be the
"good guys" & that (B) good guys kill in a "good"
way.

Their policies are right now killing more per month in Iraq than died in
the US by terrorist action in the month of September 2001.

But those are "good deaths" in a "good cause" so that's
entirely different from religion.
