I have been out of touch for several weeks, but finally got the new -23
beta and flashed it.  I still had the same problem with it.  In fact,
sometimes it would flash up that it was trying to negotiate 31.2 and
33.6.  This was with "standard" V.34 modems.  The display would then
revert to T300 and disconnect.
I tried setting S191=132 and no help.  I then set it to 136 and all
appears to work well.
What does this signify?  Is this indicative of phone line or modem
incompatibility??
