Hi Travis:
Well, the echo has gotten rather small this past year or so. A lot of
the people who used to be on it regularly have tripped over to the
Internet. Some of us still hang in here, though. I hope you get more
messages than I do. My local system is rather old and decrepit and
can't get a lot of the mail from FIDO-NET at times, so I lose a lot.

Well, I've been doing it on and off since 1953. I started when I was
six. Flying control-line models that is. I didn't get into R/C until
1959. Back then we didn't have proportional radios but instead used
relay/tube and reed relay systems. They were much larger and heavier
than modern radios and reliability was not very good. Often we counted
it a successful day if we took the pieces home rather than watch the
model fly away.
I've been into boats for about four years now. We race tunnel hulls and
55" weedeater powered monos. Speeds of the big monos are in the 55 mph
range now, using gas, no nitro. Not bad for a big boat on gas only.
Let me know more about your modeling activities down there in Australia.
