How many miles could an Austin 7 or Ford Popular run before > overhaul, at 40 mph on crowned roads? I worked extensively with Lucas on early alternators (replacing dynamos - remember them?) and found both them and their products _EXCELLENT_. The Lucas problem was the sales farce, which cut specifications instead of prices and led to 96% of Lucas-equipped vehicles running around with underspecified components. Of course they were going to fail. But the epithet: "Lucas, Prince of Darkness" belongs to sales, not product or engineering. -- Phil Payne http://www.isham-research.com +44 7785 302 803 +49 173 6242039 --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
