Hi Russell,

[Thus spake Russell Brooks unto Sunny Leung:]

 RB> V.8 Calling tone indicate.
RB> (This is the tone that indicates that you have V.8 enabled)
RB> and you can still have V.8 enabled without the indicator enabled
RB> All SDL's have them disabled by default but you must have accidently
 RB> enabled them (S54=0)
 RB> Disable them with ATS54=64
RB> or disable V.8 completely if you want ATS54=128

Funny, ATI4 says S54=64 for me. I do an AT&F1 and ATI4 still says
S54=64. The manual and quick reference guide say the default is S54=0.
Hmm. Should I do an ATS54=0?

The thing is, these V.8 tones don't do anything to performance as far as
I can see and don't annoy me that much. I just wanted to know what the
beeping noises were.

BTW, what does V.8 do? The Courier manual says "ITU-T
recommendation that defines procedures for starting and ending sessions
of data transmission". Clear enough, I guess.

Sunny
