I guess you could leave the Fish there. As much as we all love you, it
appears that there was a comedy club boom around here, and the saturated
market made it impossible for any of them to make money. I had a VIP card
for one ($32) that was good for a full year of free admission for me and up
to three with me, plus I was always getting free passes to give to people.
The 2-drink minimum wasn't paying the bills, and now there's only a few clubs
left (mostly in Hollywood).
The live music scene seems to be turning around a bit however. Sports bars
are starting to bring in bands for the weekends, which is a nice turn from
the BS we were seeing a few years ago where it was one night, one set, pay to
play and get a cut of the bar profits based on how many people admitted to
being there to see you when they came in.
