The first thing to do when presented with these "non-helpful" error 
messages is to type at the
command line: help "error message" in this case;

1)
help sys031347 ; which will produce the following :

SYS3147: The OS2LDR.MSG file is invalid.

EXPLANATION: The files was not of the correct form or has an incorrect
number of messages.

ACTION: The OS2LDR.MSG file will have to be replaced with a valid,
non-corrupted version found on the Installation diskette.

2)
help sys02027 ; which will produce the following :

SYS2027: Insert a system diskette and restart the system.

No help is available for the message ID number requested.

	From the above it would appear that the solution should be self evident. I 
would suggest
copying  the OS2LDR.MSG file from what ever drive was the source drive for 
the boot diskette
creation.

	Note: Kris, we have already established that the diskette drive is not a 
USB device.
