RB> Rod, I believe my USR can Speedshift from 19200 to 31200 WITHOUT a RETRAIN.

SA> V.34 Speedshifts to change speed, so you dont notice a pause when
SA> the modems speedshift. This make it nice when you have line hits etc..

Yes.

SA> V.fc and all other Protocols I know of (Maybe not HST?)
SA> have to Retrain, and thats almost just like Reconnecting
SA> so you get a PAUSE in data flow :(..

Both V32bis and VFC do speedshifts too, dont require a full retrain.

SA> I take it the Diag's dont count Speedshifts
SA> as Retrains (as they are not the same thing)..

True.

SA> Maybe a Speedshift's in the Diag screen would be nice?..
SA> And A record of seconds after connect and speed changes... Like..

SA> 00:00:00 19200/21600
SA> 00:01:00 21600/21600
SA> 00:01:02 21600/24000

SA> etc...

Yeah, that would certainly be handy.

SA> would be nice so you can see if you got a line hit, speed dropped etc....

And even better with some fully automated stats, just dump them from
the modem after each call and you could have a fancy analysis of them
too. The current snapshot of just the CONNECT rate and the last state
just before the session terminated is, as you say, a bit minimalist.
