Try the SIG Kadet MKIV - a very tough bird. I've built 2 for a friend that's
learning to fly and it sure takes a beating, also the Topflite Sierra and the
Midwest Malibu (sp) are 2 very good trainers.
The other thing about all 3 is that they all fly very well and use an engine
size that doesn't eat a gallon of fuel every week-end.
These are my opinions and I'm sure there are more good quality kits out
there. The one thing to remember are to get a qualified instructor, one that
you feel comfortable with, and while building a kit don't be afraid to ask
for him to come over and inspect it every so often. You probably find out a
few good hints on improving the kit thus making it a better flyer.
Hope this helps.
