The message from Martin Ridgley rises higher:
MR> Hello All,
MR> I was just wondering if anyone could either confirm or complete
MR> this discography of Brand X. Here's a list of the albums I know
MR> about:
MR> 1) Unorthodox Behaviour - (1976)
MR> 2) Moroccan Roll - (1977)
MR> 3) Livestock - (1977)
MR> 4) Masques - (1978)
MR> 5) Product - ( ?? )
MR> 6) Do They Hurt? - (1980)
MR> 7) Is There Anything About? - (1982)
MR> 8) X Communication - (1992)
There was another Brand X CD released in late '95 or maybe early this
year. I can't remember what it's called and I don't have it, but it was
released. Mr. Goodsall told me himself at one of his gigs in L.A. :-)
And, there was _Brand X The Plot Things - A History of Brand X_, which
is just a compilation.
MR> Also, Percy Jones is one of my all time favourite bass players.
God, yes!
MR> Besides the Brand X albums, I know he worked on a couple of early
MR> ones by Brian Eno (_Another Green World_ and _Before and After
MR> Science_). If anyone knows of any other session work he's done I would
MR> love to hear about it!
Well, there's _Marscape_, which is by Robin Lumley and Jack Lancaster.
Jones plays bass on it and Collins plays drums. I highly recommend this
album.
And, I just ordered _Peter The Wolf_ performed by members of Brand X.
I'll let you know what it's like when I get it.
Also, Brian Eno's "Music For Films" is supposed to have Jones on it.
Then there's some band called the Intergalactic Touring Band which
had all kinds of people you'd recognize like Anthony Phillips, Annie
Haslam, Rod Argent, Dave Cousins, Meatloaf, members of Staus Quo, and
others.
MR> Likewise for Percy Jones solo albums. I know of only two:
MR> 1) Propeller Music - (1990) by the Percy Jones Ensemble
MR> 2) Cape Catastrophe - (1990) - by Percy Jones
From the Genesis Discography from alt.music.genesis:
Hex -- Jones had a band called Hex, which has never released an album,
although a release is (was) rumored. The band is made up of Jones, Mark
Wagnon on electronics, and Frank Katz on drums. They did do gigs, and
played mostly tunes from Cape Catastrophe as well as a number of new
ones. Nothing from the Brand X days though.
That's all I can think of, but I'm sure I'm missing something.
